"Shaun & I are from traditional farming backgrounds so we both have a shared love and appreciation for the countryside, animals and nature. As a little girl, I grew up watching my mum bake in our farm kitchen everyday to share with family and visiting friends. It was this natural joy that she found in hosting that I believe I've inherited and twenty-five years later I can still happily say I love my job! Shaun & I feel very privileged to have the opportunity to share the home that we’ve built together with guests from all over the world."

Northern Ireland boasts a rich food culture which we embrace through our breakfast menu. Choose from a selection of tempting options including healthy organic oats, classic bacon and eggs or sweet summer pancakes served with fresh fruit and Canadian maple syrup. We also offer traditional Northern Irish favourites including our Ulster Fry complete with homemade potato and soda bread. We love to use tried and tested family recipes and locally sourced ingredients when preparing our breakfasts to ensure the great quality and flavour that Northern Irish cuisine is famous for!

The Causeway Coast has something for everyone, whether you're looking for a relaxing coastal getaway, fun-filled family break or a wild adventure exploring the rugged Northern Irish landscape. Some of our favourites include the beautiful blue-flag beaches, historic sites such as Dunluce Castle and the Mussenden Temple, the natural splendour of the Dark Hedges as seen in Game of Thrones and the breath-taking views from Binevenagh Mountain! For the foodies - the North-Coast is bursting with cafes, eateries, restaurants, ice-cream parlours, pubs and bars including the incredibly successful Ramore Restaurants in Portrush and Morelli's Ice-Cream Parlour in Portstewart!
We offer a quiet coastal retreat with beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding countryside including the Donegal Hills, Mussenden Temple and the River Bann Valley. The fields surrounding the house are grazed by our family's own herd of cattle and sheep which often make for excellent photo opportunities. We also have our very own highland cows, Bonnie and Heidi! At Carnalbanagh you can enjoy the peace and serenity of the glorious Northern Irish countryside whilst only being a 5-minute drive from the beautiful Portstewart Strand Beach. We offer a private car park for our guests and a large garden with lots of little seating areas, perfect for relaxing and watching one of our famous North-Coast sunsets!

Tearfund is a Christian charity that partners with churches in more than 50 of the world’s poorest countries. They tackle poverty through sustainable development, responding to disasters, and challenging injustice. Carnalbanagh House B&B has partnered with the Tearfund Charity, pledging to donate 5% of our income every year. We believe that this will help to make a difference and work towards ending extreme poverty.

The emerald green fields and stunning natural scenery within Northern Ireland reminds us of how important it is that we act responsibly and take care of the environment to preserve the natural beauty that surrounds us. At Carnalbanagh we’ve been making small changes to how we do things in the hope that we can be more environmentally friendly.

  • To reduce our consumption of fossil fuels, we use renewable energy from solar panels and a wind turbine which provides clean electricity for the house.
  • Refillable glass water bottles are included in every room and refillable soap and shampoo bottles in every en-suite, reducing single-use plastic waste.
  • All bins are sorted for recycling and composting after we have serviced the guest rooms.
  • We use as many locally sourced ingredients as we can in our breakfasts to help support local businesses and reduce the food miles of our meals.
  • We love to add beautiful new plants to our garden each year. Recently we have been planting new trees and adding fruit trees to our small orchard. This helps to provide natural habitats, promote biodiversity and clean the air. They also have a beautiful show of blossom in the spring and a delicious harvest of sweet plums and apples in the autumn!
